At elevated temperatures, welded pipes are susceptible to intergranular corrosion. While multiple factors can contribute to this phenomenon, 321 Stainless Steel Pipe suppliers identify the primary cause as the precipitation of chromium carbides in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of the weld seam. During welding, free carbon atoms react with free chromium atoms present on the steel surface. This reaction occurs within a temperature range of 800°F to 1500°F. The formation of chromium carbides compromises the integrity of the weld, increasing the likelihood of corrosion in SS 321 welded pipes.

To mitigate this issue, manufacturers typically add titanium to the alloy melt. Titanium acts as a stabilizing element and preferentially bonds with carbon atoms, forming titanium carbides. Unlike chromium carbides, titanium carbides do not negatively affect the microstructure of 321 stainless steel seamless pipes. Moreover, titanium carbides enhance the material's mechanical strength and provide additional corrosion resistance in 321 stainless steel tubing.

Importantly, during welding at elevated temperatures, the formation of titanium carbides along the weld seam of 321 stainless steel exhaust tubing significantly reduces susceptibility to intergranular corrosion. Compared to most austenitic stainless steels in the 300 series, the mechanical properties of this alloy are superior. Its chemical composition enables it to perform effectively under high-temperature conditions, offering improved creep strength and enhanced stress rupture resistance.

	Markings will adhere to prescribed specifications in A999/A999M and shall include the NPS or OD and schedule number or average wall thickness, heat number, and NH (when hydrotesting is not performed) and ET (when eddy-current testing is performed) or UT (when ultrasonic testing is performed). The marking shall also include the manufacturer's private identifying mark, the marking requirement of section 12.3 on Hydrostatic or Nondestructive Electric Test, if applicable, and whether seamless (SML), welded (WLD), or heavily cold-worked (HCW). Packaging & Shipping

1. All of our stainless steel seamless pipe & tubes are packaged as per international standard to prevent any possible damage or loss. By default, we will use thick woven plastic bag to bundle the finished pipes together in batches.
2. For some special pipes & tubes that are vulnerable to dirt, scratches, stress or rough handling, we will suggest wooden case for protection. Kindly note, wooden case can incur extra cost, not only its own cost, but also the increased freight cost, which is especially true for air transportation.
3. For enhanced customer experience, we also provide dedicated package as per your special requirements.

Certifications

Guohao Steel welcomes direct customer inspections as well as those conducted by their appointed third-party inspection agencies, including but not limited to SGS, Bureau Veritas (BV), TÜV, DNV, and other internationally recognized organizations.
